The Tripod Bolt Box (Lafette 34 Bolt Box)
When the MG34 was deployed in its sustained/heavy machine gun role on the tripod (the MG Lafette 34), gunners used a specialized, vehicle/tripod-mounted bolt box.
Design: A small metal box mounted directly onto the upper left frame tube of the Lafette tripod (roughly 50 mm from the support tube).
Purpose: This box provided quick access to a backup bolt, keeping it close at hand during sustained fire and barrel swaps. Original surviving boxes often feature wartime German Waffenamt stamps and period paint, and on the rare occasion appear on specialty sites like Ours!!
